Feedstock is a mix of products taken from the crude oil that will then be processed, or mixed, again to make a different component. You can think of feedstock like baking a cake: first, we combine the dry ingredients like flour, baking powder, and sugar. You can think of the dry ingredient mix like crude oil feedstock. Next, you would mix the wet ingredients, like eggs and milk- this would be another type of feedstock. Put together, the dry and wet ingredients would make cake batter that can be baked to create a cake. At an oil refinery, the mix of feedstock creates products that we can use, like the gas or diesel in our cars, base oil, the bulk ingredient in lubricants like engine oils, and the fuel in our airplanes.
